Rules for Individual Competitions

(Captains Cup and Presentation Night Knockouts)

 

1)  The Captains Cup is a Singles competition, played at an agreed venue during the regular season.  In the first instance, the winner of the Captains Cup will be invited to host the competition the following year.

 

2)  The Presentation Night Knockouts are separate Singles and Pairs events, played on the Presentation evening, which takes place after the regular season has completed. A player cannot play in both the Singles and Pairs competitions on Presentation Night.

3)  Entry to the competitions will be limited to registered players.

 

4)  The number of entries for each competition will be determined by the committee and advised to teams prior to the completions taking place

 

5)  The player(s) to be entered into the competition must be notified to the League Secretary prior to the competition taking place.

 

6)  The competitions will be run as a single elimination bracket format knockout.

 

7)  The initial draw will be undertaken by the League Secretary and at least one other committee member. In subsequent rounds the winners of the corresponding bracketed matches will play each other.

 

8)  Where a team has entered two players or teams in a competition, the first round draw will be seeded such that each player or pair will be placed in opposite halves of the draw.

 

9)  Matches will be played according to the section entitled “General Playing Rules” as set down in the current league rules document with the following adaptations

 

  • Prior to the semi-finals, matches will be played as a single leg of 121 points to determine the winner. 

  • The semi-finals and final will be played to a “Best of Three” format, with the first player or pair to win two legs being the winner.
