Rules for Team Knockout/ Repechage Competitions

1)  The knockout competition proper will begin with a Round of Eight.  If more than eight teams are entered into the league, a preliminary round will take place to reduce the number to eight.

2)  The winners from the Round of Eight will go forward to the semi-finals of the competition proper. The losers from the Round of Eight (along with any losers from the preliminary round) will play in a Repechage competition.

3)  Winners of the semi-final matches will play in their respective finals. 

4)  All matches will be played according to the section entitled “General Playing Rules” as set down in the current league rules document. Each round will be drawn by the league secretary and one or more committee members. 

5)  The first team drawn will be the home team and will provide the venue for the match.  In exceptional circumstances and with the agreement of the opposing team captain, the match may be changed to any other agreeable venue.

6)  In each round, both teams are required to have a minimum of four registered players to compete in the match.  The selected players for each team may be changed for each round.  If the team captain is not available for the match, another player must be nominated to take the role.

7)  In each match, the pairs games shall be played prior to the singles.

8)  In each game, all three legs are played and a point is awarded for each game won

 

9)  The team scoring ten or more points will win the match

10)  If after all legs have been played the score is 9-9, the two captains shall play one further leg of singles to determine the winner

11)  The home team captain is responsible for notifying the league secretary of the result.  The completed result card must be photographed or otherwise retained, in case of dispute.
